Apple permanently closes Apple Store at MacArthur Center in Virginia

It’s rare enough to be reported: Apple announces the upcoming closure of the Apple Store at the MacArthur Center shopping center located in Norfolk, Virginia (USA). All store employees will be offered new internal job reassignments. Apple will also offer suitable support for Apple Store customers (repairs in progress, for example).

No reason is specified for this closure, but Apple has undoubtedly prioritized the safety of its employees. For once, the coronavirus is not the main culprit here: the Apple Store in Norfolk has indeed suffered several armed attacks in recent years. This violent crime has already led to the closure of other shops in the MacArthur Center. The Norfolk Apple Store is expected to close within 90 days according to a source familiar with the matter. Apple is not planning any new store openings in the region.
