Apple Music causes problems on iPhone

Apple Music appears to be dealing with a data breach. Due to the data leak, playlists are shown to the wrong user. For example, it is quite possible that you will see the playlists of other users in your library. It is of course also possible the other way around: your playlist is in someone else’s library due to the bug in Apple Music.

The problem is unfortunately bigger than just seeing each other’s playlist, the playlists can also be edited. As a result, your playlist is suddenly being edited without you wanting it. For example, songs can be removed or added to your playlist. In some cases, the new song will also be added to your library.

Even worse is also possible: another user can now also delete your playlist. As it looks now, your playlist is really gone. How do you prevent this?

Reconnect Apple Music to iCloud

Do you suddenly see new songs in your playlist, or is your playlist suddenly changed? Then you are probably affected by the data breach in Apple Music. Good to know: as far as is now clear, the bug only occurs on the iPhone. Apple Music does work properly on your Mac and iPad.

Apple has not yet officially acknowledged the bug in Apple Music on your iPhone and has therefore not yet come up with a solution. A number of Apple Music users have therefore started looking for a solution themselves. They discovered that the bug in Apple Music can be fixed in some cases by reconnecting Apple Music to your iCloud account. You do this as follows:

  1. Open ‘Settings’;
  2. Go to your Apple ID;
  3. Tap “iCloud”;
  4. Under ‘Apps using iCloud’, choose ‘Show all’;
  5. Go to ‘Music’;
  6. Turn the switch behind ‘Music’ off and on again.
Relink Apple Music iCloud

It’s not entirely clear if reconnecting to iCloud completely fixes the Apple Music bug, but it’s worth a try. Of course, it’s a shame if you lose a playlist you’ve worked on for years because of the bug.
