Apple is working on a new desktop computer: the Mac Studio
Apple may soon release a new desktop computer: the Mac Studio. It would be a computer that sits between the Mac mini and Mac Pro. In addition, the company is working on a 7K monitor.

‘Apple’s Mac Studio is between Mac mini and Mac Pro’
If you want to buy an Apple desktop computer, you can currently choose from the iMac, Mac mini and Mac Pro. A fourth option may be added later this year. According to 9to5Mac Apple is working on the ‘Mac Studio’. That would be a computer somewhere between the Mac mini and the Mac Pro.
Apple will soon offer two versions of the device. The first runs on the M1 Max chip that we will also find in the MacBook Pro 2021. The second variant will reportedly get a processor that is even more powerful. With the device, Apple is targeting professionals who want a fast computer, but for whom the Mac Pro is just a step too far.
A year ago we already read the rumor that Apple would be working on a smaller Mac Pro. According to 9to5Mac, that’s actually the Mac Studio. Apple may present the asset as early as June at the WWDC developer conference. That would also give the company some time to further tinker with the real new Mac Pro. That is probably the last computer to switch to Apple’s own processors.
Apple is also working on a 7K monitor
In addition to the Mac Studio, Apple is also working on a new monitor with a high 7K resolution, according to 9to5Mac. Unfortunately, we can’t tell you much more about the new screen yet. It is unclear whether this will replace the very expensive Pro Display XDR or simply an addition to the range. The format is not yet known. Incidentally, Apple is also rumored to be developing a more affordable monitor. It will probably have a slightly lower resolution.
