Apple is pushing iPhone 13 production into top gear
Apple is currently fully committed to the production of the iPhone 13 to be ready in time for its release later this year.
A huge amount of information about the iPhone 13 has already been leaked, but so far Apple has been silent about this year’s smartphone series. Fortunately, there are also companies that have to make the parts. Just have chip maker TSMC reveal to Digitimes (paywall, via MacRumors) that the iPhone 13 production is running at full speed. Despite chip shortages, the iPhone 13 has the highest priority.
iPhone 13 production at full throttle
According to the manufacturers, the iPhone 13 is already in production, but they need to make 30 to 40% more to fulfill Apple’s orders. In the third quarter of this year, the device has priority status, as Apple usually releases their latest smartphones in September. In short, manufacturers must hurry to get all parts to Apple on time.
Companies like TSMC have been incredibly busy lately. The current chip shortage is impacting all sectors, including the smartphone industry and the automotive industry. Nevertheless, Apple does not seem to be bothered by that. Manufacturers prefer to receive large orders from large companies. In short, TSMC can prioritize Apple because they know the company will keep pumping out iPhone 13s for now.
As an added advantage, the iPhone 13 is not expected to make such gigantic changes, so that the entire production does not have to be adjusted. Allegedly, all of Apple’s upcoming smartphones are the same size as the current iPhone 12 series. There will be a new processor and some other cameras, but fundamentally everything remains the same.
