Apple is committed to making all products carbon neutral by 2030
The American technology company Apple has adjusted its climate goals upwards: in 2030 all products will be made CO2 neutral. This not only concerns the production, but also the use of the various gadgets.

Compensating iPhones
Apple is making major investments in generating renewable energy within Europe. The aim is to generate enough green energy to compensate for the full electrical consumption of each Apple device. To achieve this target, it is necessary to generate an average of 3,000 gigawatt hours per year. Among other things, large solar and wind farms are needed that differ in the number of megawatts that can be generated, ranging from 30 to 300 megawatts.
Worldwide call to suppliers
“The fight against climate change is a very high priority at Apple. With several steps, our words are turned into action,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. Since 2018, Apple’s entire business has been running on 100% renewable energy. Suppliers are also urged to make production CO2 neutral and to invest in clean energy and climate solutions. Suppliers are required to report the progress of CO2-neutral production.

New iPhone function contributes to the fight against climate change
In the iOS16, Apple comes with a new feature called ‘Clean Energy Charging’. iPhones can use this function to charge their smartphone as much as possible using green electricity. The aim is to reduce the ecological footprint of the iPhone by optimizing loading times, among other things.
