‘No foldable iPhone before 2025’

There has been talk for years about a foldable iPhone. However, Apple seems to be in little hurry with such a device, which would compete with, among others, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. According to the reliable analyst Ross Young Apple has postponed the ‘iPhone Fold’ until 2025.

Nevertheless, it is good to read that the device is apparently still in development. Another nice claimed earlier this year that Apple may never release a foldable iPhone. The company would not find the current screen technology good enough. In addition, Apple first wants to make sure that foldable smartphones are not a temporary hype.

Concept of a foldable iPhone

A foldable iPhone would probably be nearly as big as the iPad mini when unfolded. That could be another reason for the delay. The smallest iPad has little right to exist anymore if people will soon be walking around with a double-folded version in their pocket.

20-inch MacBook that’s all screen?

Remarkably, according to Young, Apple is not only working on a foldable iPhone, but also a 20-inch MacBook that consists entirely of a folding screen. He expects this futuristic device to hit the market after 2025.

The foldable MacBook should become an entirely new product category. When you use it as a normal laptop, a full-sized virtual keyboard appears on the horizontal half of the screen. When unfolded, it would be like a portable iMac that you can use with an external keyboard.

We take this rumor with a grain of salt. Young is often right, but typing on a screen is usually not a pleasant experience. We’ll know more in a few years.
