Apple AirTag helps photographer catch a crook
Apple’s AirTag has finally come to the rescue once again. A photographer who was on holiday in Australia has found his stolen belongings with the tracker. This included photo equipment worth 6625 euros.
Graham Tait was on holiday in Australia in early May. While checking in at his hotel, a thief stole a bag and camera from his car. The bag contained a laptop, a Sony camera, a wallet, a GoPro and other items worth 10,000 Australian dollars.
Because Tait had AirTags hidden in his bag, the man opened the ‘Find My’ app. Through a tap on his iPhone, he found out that his belongings were in another hotel room. Without confronting the thief, he called the police. They arrested the alleged perpetrator and returned the items. Without the Apple AirTag, the photographer would have lost all his equipment.
AirTag in the news about stalking lately
The Apple AirTag has recently been in the news more often for stalking than offering help. Thieves can steal cars with the help of the Apple AirTag. Also, it appeared that a family at Disney World was being stalked with Apple AirTags.
Apple has been trying to get rid of this annoying aftertaste for some time now. The AirTags are intended to find lost items instead of following people. Apple has had enough and some updates have already been made to make stalking more difficult. For example, the AirTag now beeps louder, so you can hear it faster when an unknown AirTag is nearby.
