‘Apex Legends’ takes on a new dimension
Apex Legends is getting a highly anticipated new mode, but it may not be what you hoped for.
Today, Respawn and EA revealed that they will be launching Apex Legends for Nintendo Switch on March 9th. In addition, the companies announced that they are also introducing a “no fill” solo queue option in Apex Legends. If this sounds good, uncheck the lobby and the matchmaking system will send you into battle without adding any teammates. Yet you can still encounter duos and trios, so this adjustment is more of an extra difficulty. Not what many players expected, but a welcome addition.
Solo
It is not possible to use this solo queue in ranked play. Also, no more than six no-fill players are allowed in a match. However, the solo option at the very least recognizes that a lot of people don’t want to have teammates, be it frequent lone wolves or just not feeling particularly social. This new capability provides players with creative opportunities to play the game their way. And many players were waiting for that.
Chaos Theory event
More news, there will be a new Chaos Theory event. This to celebrate the launch on the Switch. What can we expect from that? The amount of skins and heirlooms will be themed. But there are also some functional changes on the way. For example, a Survival Slot will house “Situational Utilities,” including a new Heat Shield item that temporarily protects you from damage from outside the ring. The shield is especially useful for reviving downed allies or taking out vulnerable squads. From its launch on March 9 through March 23, the Chaos Theory Collection Event pays tribute to Caustic – the infamous murderous scientist of the Outlands.
