Android users will get feature that iPhone users have since 2021
Google regularly adds new features to the Chrome browser. This time, Android users get a feature that iOS users have had since 2021. It’s about securing incognito tabs.
Google secures incognito tabs in Chrome
If you surf the web a lot with your mobile phone, but don’t always want to visit websites in normal mode, but rather incognito, then you’ve had the opportunity to do so for many years. Hardly anyone wants everyone to be able to access the content they visited in Inkgonito mode. This is exactly why Google has now introduced the solution for the Chrome browser on Android. You can specify with the new version of the browser that the Incognitotabs secured after exit and can only be unlocked again by you (source: 9to5Google).
The new feature for the Chrome browser for Android is currently being rolled out worldwide. But this is happening in waves and it will probably take some time before everyone can really access it. If you have the appropriate version installed, then you can open an incognito tab, go to the settings and there under Privacy and security specify that the incognito tab can only be opened again if you logs in with a fingerprint, for example. Otherwise the window can no longer be opened.
With Android 13 you get many new features:
Old hat for Apple users
It is not known why Google took so long to implement the function in Chrome for Android. At the beginning of 2021, the feature was already released for iOS users, who have since been able to secure their incognito tabs. In addition to the fingerprint sensor, Face ID is of course also used there to unlock an incognito tab again. With a two-year delay, Android is now also being updated to this level.
