Android Auto is working on returning light theme

Android Auto is a very useful platform for in the car. Now a return seems to be planned for the light theme. That is missing so far, so you can only use a dark mode.

Light theme for Android Auto?

If you use your smartphone with a more recent Android version, you can choose a dark or a light theme. However, there is no comparable option for Android Auto, but that may change, according to new clues. Android Auto also had a light theme until a redesign in 2019, but that is no longer the case. The major Coolwalk update was recently rolled out.

In the code of the application, the discovery has now been made that Google is working on a light theme for Android Auto. A welcome addition when driving during the day. Now you have to do it with the dark default theme. It is clear that the whole is still under development. For example, some things still look a bit rough and we do not yet see the rounded screen corners in every part. It is expected that Google will offer an option where the theme can be automatically converted from light to dark and vice versa, depending on the time of day.

It is unknown when Google will make the light theme available for the Android Auto application in the car. Presumably there will be testing first, after which the final update will only be rolled out over a longer period of time.
