Android Auto disappears from mobile screens. The Assistant gets a chance
Google has decided to phase out the “Android Auto for phone screens” application, which provides the display of this popular driving tool on smartphone screens. He gets space instead Assistant with his previously announced driving regime. The testers noticed the prepared rotation of the fourth public beta version of the Android 12 system, which officially informs about the change in Pixel phones.
Android Auto for phone screens
To the common Android Auto environment, which is primarily intended for in-car displays and sound systems, Google added a special “Android Auto for phone screens” app to the Play Store in 2016. It first allowed drivers to create the same environment with large icons and easy operation and on the phone display. For example, in older cars, where regular AA does not work. In 2019, the American giant announced the arrival of a “driving mode” for the Assistant, which should replace a very similar application. It was quiet for a while, but now it would obviously happen.
So far, it seems replacing one function with another (a very typical thing for Google) will occur within Android 12. In this system, the mobile appearance of AA already announces that it will be replaced. Some Pixel cell phone owners already have older apps doesn’t even show in the Play Store. The question is whether the newly equipped Assistant will replace its predecessor with older mobile phones. But Google will probably have to answer this in an official statement.
