What has happened in the past 365 days? DroidApp has always been covering the daily happenings in the phone world. Maybe you already got a lot, but maybe not everything? DroidApp gives you a monthly summary.
January
Already a few announcements in the first month of the year. The new OnePlus 10 Pro was presented internationally, but not yet for Europe. There was, however, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE that was officially shown. In addition, we started playing the game Wordle en masse. Do you remember?
February
In the second month of the year there was the big announcement from Samsung. The brand presented the Galaxy S22 series, along with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 models. At Oppo we saw the Find X5 series. It feels like we’ve been able to do this for a long time, but we’ve only been able to like Stories on Instagram since February. Samsung came up with the improved update policy for Android devices, whereby even older models receive updates for 5 years. Huawei released its alternative to Google Maps; in the form of Petal Maps. The app was previously announced, but was provided with several improvements in February.
March
OnePlus presented its new flagship in March, the OnePlus 10 Pro for Europe. We were also introduced to Nothing OS, Nothing’s own skin. The new Galaxy A53 was also presented by Samsung and we have been able to use the video services HBO Max and ViaPlay in our country since the third month of the year. There was also a major hacking attack at Samsung.
April
April was the month in which KPN’s 3G network was taken off the air. For the first time we also heard about Netflix’s plans, whereby accounts that share their account will have to pay more. Motorola also announced the Motorola Edge 30 and the Moto G52 was also shown to the public.
May
It was the month of Google I/O. There it was announced that Google Maps will get the more realistic view, the company launched the new Google Wallet app and the Pixel 6a was shown. In May, Sony presented its new Xperia 1 IV and the Xperia 10 IV. OnePlus expanded the Nord series with two models. Rabobank customers could start using Google Pay from May.
June

July
Asus ventured into the compact high-end segment in July. It came with the Asus Zenfone 9. Nokia presented some nostalgic models in a new look this summer month and Nothing came with its first smartphone; the Nothing Phone 1. It was also the month in which Instagram managed to make a mess of its own app again. In the month of July, Telegram released its paid version of the app; Telegram Premium.
August
In August we published our new edition of weather app test 2022. For the ninth time in DroidApp history, we spent months researching the performance of the various weather apps. But more happened in August. Android 13 was officially announced and Samsung came up with the new Z Flip 4 and Fold 4. RTL has decided to say goodbye to RTL XL, switching completely to Videoland. Nothing there will be free anymore.
September
In September we also covered the necessary news. DroidApp traveled to Milan for the introduction of the new Edge 30 models. Nokia came up with new devices and Sony presented the Xperia 5 IV. The first manufacturers started rolling out the update to Android 13 and the European Commission is calling for mandatory updates for smartphones for five years.
October
Since 2015 we had the well-known design for the website. In October we came up with a major update for the website; Droid App 3.0. Including a dark theme, a much improved search function and of course a whole new look for the website. But there was more news. Google presented the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and the 6a, which were also finally released in the Netherlands. At the beginning of October, DroidApp was in Munich for the presentation of the new Xiaomi 12T series and Motorola also presented its new Razr 2022.
November
In November, OnePlus introduced a new update policy. These new changes will apply to the brand’s high-end devices. America came up with a sales ban on Huawei and Samsung presented the update schedule for the Dutch devices. This lists the devices that will be updated to Android 13. There are also major concerns about TikTok’s privacy policy.
December
In December the news emerged that the EU is working on new legislation. Will this be the return of the removable battery in the smartphone? There were also several annual reviews, such as Google’s Year in Search 2022, Spotify’s and YouTube’s. We were also introduced to MIUI 14 from Xiaomi. Google also presented 7 new functions for Android in December, such as the shareable car key. It also seems to be done with sharing your Netflix account next year.
