‘Android 12 will compress unused apps’
There are new reports about the existence of Android 12. The new Android version would get an option whereby apps that you do not use are automatically reduced. What can we expect from that position?
Android 12 compresses apps
From indications in the Android source code, it appears that Google seems to be working on a new function for Android 12. In this new Android version comes a function called ‘app hibernation’. This allows apps that are not being used to be compressed. That way, memory is saved on your smartphone. This is a function that can be especially useful for devices with Android Go. These are devices with less powerful hardware.
The function is reminiscent of a function that has to do with privacy, in Android 11. In it app permissions are revoked if an app is not used after a while. This prevents apps from continuing to access, for example, the location, while the user is not using the application.
Whether the feature will definitely come to Android 12, and whether it will be available for every version or only for Android Go, is not yet known. For that we have to wait until the Developer Preview is released by Google. This is expected this quarter.
