“Android 12 release is next month”

Traditionally, Android 12 should have already launched, but now there is a potential date for the release of the new version.

Whether it can be called a tradition might be going a bit far, but if you like certainties and patterns, something strange is going on. Let’s put it this way: Android 10 launched early in September 2019 and Android 11 followed that trend by launching early in September in 2020. That left people wondering: it’s currently a bit later in September: we actually had Android 12 already expected. However, it is quiet around Google’s OS.

Grab the calendar (or your Google calendar, to keep it appropriate), because there’s a potential date now. This was noticed by a Twitterer who got hold of a calendar from Google. With Android 12 it says that the AOSP (Open Source) is scheduled for October 4. That would correspond to a release date.

The release of Android 12 in October ends the many beta tests that the version has had in the meantime and a number of devices will soon be able to get started with the latest version of Android. Many of the new features will be the showpiece of the new Google Pixel, which is also slated for October. That can not be a coincidence.
