Oppo Enco Free2 review
The earphones come in a fairly large square box, where other manufacturers often opt for a somewhat smaller packaging. In the box we find a manual and of course the in-ears. Underneath, Oppo supplies two other plugs for optimal fit. Finally, a short charging cable should not be missing in the package.
You connect the headphones by opening the box and pressing the button on the side of the case. A small LED light on the front lights up, indicating we are ready to pair. Then choose the correct Bluetooth device on your phone and go!
Sound quality
The sound quality of these in-ears is good without adjustments, bass tones are present but not predominant, the middle is clear and the highs are perhaps just a tad too bright. Yet it is not an unpleasant sound for this price range, but in the search for an equalizer we have to disappoint you here too. Like the OnePlus Buds Pro, the Oppo Enco Free2 does not have an equalizer.
There is, however, the HeyMelody app in which you can do a personal listening test. This boosts certain tones more for a better listening experience. That’s right, because the sound also sounds slightly better after doing the test. Recent tracks like Coldplay’s Universe and The Weeknd’s Take My Breath sound warm and clear. With 80s like Spandau Ballet – Gold and Michael Jackson’s Wanna Be Starting Something, the highs are less pleasant to listen to.
The Enco Free2 is equipped with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and it does its job well, turning a noisy environment into a quiet listening environment without any problems. With the noise reduction on, the in-ears are virtually silent. If you also want to use the in-ears during sports, you can, with the transparent mode, ambient sounds are transmitted amplified. You can control your music via the earphones, for example by swiping up or down to turn the volume up or down.
App & battery life
As mentioned, the HeyMelody app can also be used for the Enco Free2. In addition to the personal test, you will also find the current battery percentages in this app and the option to adjust the controls. Furthermore, the app can be used to update the firmware.
The earphones last about 4.5 to 5 hours on a single charge, which depends on the modes used. Fortunately, thanks to the case, you can always charge the Enco Free2 on the go. If the case is also empty, count on at least an hour of charging time to provide the entire set with 100% voltage again.
Judgement
The Oppo Enco Free2 in-ear headphones are an interestingly priced headset that is easy to operate. The active noise suppression in the Enco Free2 can be called good and for the most recent tracks the sound quality is okay, for 80s we find the sound a little less pleasant. The app has a personal listening test for better sound quality but an equalizer is missing. The Oppo Enco Free2 can be found in the store at Bol.com and Amazon. You can have them at home for about 100 euros.
