The inclined viewer of the Amazon event on Tuesday evening had to accept a veritable flood of announcements. We put it together clearly.
In Germany we have a clear advantage when it comes to keeping an overview. Because most of the innovations that Amazon presented at its hardware and software event on Tuesday will not even come to Germany – at least not for the foreseeable future. So let’s first look at what concerns us. And then risk a look at interesting products that we have to wait for in this country.
The new Echo Show 15 smart display is bigger than any before. It has a 15.6-inch HD display with a 1080p resolution, which is intended as a family information center. The new Amazon chip AZ2 allows the Echo Show 15 smart features. Echo Show 15 is set to cost around 250 euros and will be available later this year. Blink Video Doorbell, the intelligent doorbell for little money
Amazon has presented a total of three new Blink products. The video doorbell with the speaking name is particularly interesting. The Blink Video Doorbell shows who is at the door, can save recordings in the cloud and works both wired and wirelessly. At only around 60 euros, it beats Google’s Nest Doorbell by far. Anyone who longs for the market launch can inform from Amazon * permit.
From the Blink series, Amazon has also announced a floodlight camera mount and a solar panel mount, which will each cost around 40 euros.
The Wifi 6 router Eero Pro 6 with integrated smart home hub is not really new. However, it is new for German customers because it has not existed in this country before. The Eero Pro 6 can now for 249 euros * individually or as Set of three for 639 euros * can be acquired.
Astro, the first home robot from Amazon, is not available in Germany and only in very limited numbers in the USA. It is not possible to omit it in this overview. After all, the little one is really cute. In the US, some Astro can be purchased by invitation as part of the Day 1 Editions program. They should cost around $ 1,000 each and will be shipped this year. Did we mention that Astro is really extremely cute?
In September 2020, Amazon presented the drone for its own four walls on the occasion of its hardware event last year. So far, however, the Ring Always Home Cam has not been released. US customers will not be able to be notified when the home drone goes on sale until this fall. It should cost around $ 250.
The new Halo View can compete visually and – according to Amazon – also functionally with the popular charge trackers from Fitbit. Unfortunately, they do not exist in Germany, even though they are already the second generation of Halo trackers. The first halo tape had no display and was introduced in August 2020. Similar to Apple and Fitbit, Amazon now also offers a fitness subscription. It should only be a matter of time before we see Halo products in this country. In the US, Amazon only takes around $ 80 for the Halo View, including an annual subscription.
Amazon also initially presented a product called “Smart Thermostat”, which is visually very similar to its competitors, only for US customers. It should cost around $ 60 and can be used in a network via the smart home hub. The price is likely to be a major headache for competition.
Last but not least, the Echo Glow should be mentioned because of its innovative strength. This is a – let’s say – video conferencing system for children that can be used just as well for playing. It has an eight-inch display that kids can see friends or family members on, as well as a touch-sensitive tabletop projector that they can use to play games, read books or do some artistic work.
Glow can only be acquired after applying under Amazon’s Early Access Program. It will then cost around $ 250 and should go on sale for around $ 300. It is not to be expected that the glow will come to Germany in the foreseeable future. He lives too much on special content, all of which have to be translated and some of which have to be rewritten.
