Amazon CEO: NFTs will become more important and cryptos will continue to grow
The CEO of Amazon foresees that NFTs will become much more important, and he also sees a lot of potential that cryptos will continue to grow.
The CEO of e-commerce giant Amazon is optimistic about crypto and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). He says cryptos will “get bigger” over time and NFTs will “continue to grow very significantly”.
Amazon CEO on NFTs and cryptos
The CEO in question is Andy Jassy and spoke about cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in an interview with CNBC last week. Jassy replaced Jeff Bezos as Amazon president and CEO last July. He previously led Amazon Web Services (AWS) since it was founded in 2003. So he is someone who has a lot of experience and understanding of the online world.
Regarding whether Amazon will accept cryptocurrency for payments from products on the platform, the CEO confirmed, “We are probably not close to adding crypto as a payment mechanism in our retail business.” However, he noted: I do believe that crypto will see bigger over time.
Commenting on whether he owns any cryptocurrency, the Amazon executive revealed, “I don’t own Bitcoin myself.” When asked if Amazon might ever be able to sell NFTs, Jassy replied, “I think it’s possible on the platform.” Revealing that he does not personally own NFTs, the Amazon boss opined: I expect NFTs to continue to grow very significantly.
Digital Assets
The company believes it is the future and is therefore responding to it. Previously, Amazon has hired several crypto experts. This applies to different parts of the organization. For example, in November last year, she posted a job posting for a chief digital asset specialist who can “help drive adoption in the global digital asset community.”
