Aluminum Joy-Cony for Switch evokes retro hardware -apkrig
Do you like video games and would you like a little more luxury? The small company Boxy Pixel specializes in the production of aluminum accessories for various gaming devices, mainly handhelds. With their spare parts, you can indulge in a Game Boy in a metal case, for example. Now the manufacturer has also focused on the modern Switch from Nintendo.
It’s not cheap fun
It offers aluminum Joy-Cony and individual buttons. You can choose for yourself whether you only want covers, buttons or both. In theory, but we’ll get to that. Under normal circumstances, it is necessary to assemble this show from Boxy Pixel at home, while you will find the appropriate documentation directly on the manufacturer’s website. But this is not natural for everyone.
Fortunately, in the case of Joy-Con, it is possible to pay extra for the assembly of complete drivers using new OEM components. And that brings us to the most important thing, namely the price. It’s not cheap fun at all. The packaging for Joy-Cony alone will normally cost you $ 115, now they are at a discount of $ 99. The buttons and joystick cost another $ 22, and you have to pay an extra $ 114 to build a complete new pair.
The result looks very nice, although of course it’s always a matter of taste, but it’s not exactly a folk song. There are also three color variations to choose from – the natural color of aluminum, purple and black. In addition to the light and dark variants, you can also reach for a stylish black-red combination inspired by the NES controller, for example.
Other details are also interesting. The notches on the right Joy-Con imitate the speaker grille from the original Game Boy. Similar lines can be found at the back. And of course, the D-pad here is a classic one-piece joystick and not individual buttons, as is the case with the original from Nintendo. Which is also the reason why you can theoretically order only the Joy-Con cover or just the buttons, but you practically do not combine them with the official ones and you would have to make the second piece on a 3D printer, for example.
The Pixel box is backed by an enthusiast from the American Michigan, and if you would be serious about the “aluminum switch”, it is also being sent to the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
