Cook: Apple’s Biggest Contribution Will Be to Health
It’s only two weeks left: the big iPhone 14 event! That’s why Apple CEO Tim Cook (most likely) gave an interview to Popular Mechanics, a tech website. Besides talking about the company, human rights and privacy, Cook discusses his relationship with Steve Jobs and talks about one more interesting aspect.
On September 7, at the Apple event, we think we’ll see the new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8. Tim Cook made an interesting statement about the latter: Apple’s greatest contribution to the world will be in the context of human health. That promises something for the new Apple Watch!
Apple Watch Series 8 gets more health features
The Apple Watch already monitors the health of its users very well today. Think of functions such as heart rate monitor, arrhythmia sensor and EKG. In addition, Cook also links Apple to wellness in the interview and believes that the three rings on the Apple Watch also help enormously in improving health. These keep track of your movements and sports activities.
In addition, Tim Cook also says he is proud of Apple’s health-related software. For example, the company has launched Apple Fitness+ and there are rumors that a body temperature sensor is coming to the new Apple Watch Series 8. The Apple Watch Pro (or Apple Watch Series X) is also expected to hit the market this fall. This is a watch especially for (extreme) athletes.
‘Apple values and standards are central’
In addition to Apple helping fit people to stay fitter, Tim Cook says in the interview that the company is also very committed to accessibility, privacy and education. The former of those three is something Apple has been working on more and more lately.
Cook reports that next to health, accessibility for Apple is one of the most important points. Everyone should be able to use Apple’s products. At the end, he catches up with the interviewer about Steve Jobs.
Cook believes Jobs would say Apple could do better, but in a positive way: “I think he’d find things he loved and things he’d say, ‘We can do better.’ I think he would do both. Like we all do. We are never really satisfied. We are always working on tomorrow.’
