AirPods: Apple offers a second firmware beta
Apple is releasing a second beta of firmware 6.0 (build 6A5262d) for the AirPods today. This follows the first beta (build 6A5238h) which saw the light of day last month.
Apple does not specify for the moment what are the changes to be found with the version distributed today.
With the first beta, Apple offered a new Adaptive Audio feature (announced during the WWDC 2023 keynote that only affects AirPods Pro 2) that combines Transparency Mode and Active Noise Cancellation to dynamically adapt to the conditions of the environment in which you find yourself. You can stay present in your surroundings while reducing extraneous noise, listening to music without missing what’s going on around you. When someone is nearby, the option to consider conversations reduces the sound of music and focuses on voices, while suppressing background noise.
Note that the adaptive audio and the conversation function also work during calls to make it easier for you to hear your interlocutor when you are on the move.
Another improvement concerned the connection of AirPods from one device to another (iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc.). Apple assures that the toggle is now faster.
The second firmware beta for the AirPods is available now for developers.
