Adopting gaming NFT will take time, says Ubisoft -apkrig

We have written repeatedly in recent days about the Quartz platform, which is to serve Ubisoft as a hub for broadcasting NFT games. Not only the performance itself, which provoked a very negative reaction from the players, but also the alleged misunderstanding of the employees themselves or the rock-solid conviction of the management that this is the way, framed the last days in the field of gaming NFT, which is gradually becoming a new strong trend. And even though not everyone is convinced of it, Ubisoft is leading the whole initiative and trying to explain to fans of the games that this is one of the important changes, the adoption of which only takes time. At least such a thesis was presented by Quartz technical director Didier Genevois, who explained some of his employer’s steps in an interview with Decrypt magazine.

“Since the announcement [našich plánů] we have received a lot of reactions and we perceive both encouraging words and concerns, “Genevois said diplomatically, especially given the massive wave of negative comments from players. “We understand the mood for this technology and we need to take it into account at every step,” added the CTO, but it’s clear from his other statements that Ubisoft will not follow in the footsteps of GSC Game World developers who, under pressure from their community, own plans for the NFT associated with the game STALKER 2 canceled. “The goal of the whole experiment is to understand how the decentralization value offer can be accepted by our players. We know that this is a fundamental change that will take time, but we remain true to our three principles, “added Genevois.

Our main goal with the Ubisoft Quartz platform is to demonstrate the true value of decentralization to our players, says Ubisoft.

What are the principles? Ubisoft is committed to using the NFT responsibly, creating a secure environment for it, and focusing on using nature-friendly blockchains. According to Ubisoft, the player who is to be given the opportunity through the NFT by Ubisoft – the so-called Digits – always has the opportunity to test how the whole technology works and show him the way to a completely new digital market, which can be an opportunity to get rich. Ubisoft also reiterates through Genevois that the whole initiative has been carefully prepared for a long time and is not a hasty decision, as evidenced by the NFT Rabbids charity project or the October investment in the crypto startup Animoca Brands, which is to become an ally for NFT-focused games development.

“Our main goal with the Ubisoft Quartz platform is to demonstrate the true value of decentralization to our players,” adds Genevois, confirming that the French developer and publisher has partnered with Aleph.im in addition to Animoca Brands. It is where Digits metadata and data on all NFTs are to be stored, instead of using its own but centralized repositories. So it is clear that despite strong opposition, Ubisoft is indeed continuing its plans with the NFT and apparently waiting for other publishers to react. Square Enix and Electronic Arts could be among the first to label the NFT another big thing and especially at EA we can imagine how huge potential they perceive, for example through sports titles, namely the FIFA series and its Ultimate Team…
