Is it a surprise or a mistake? In the iOS 16.1 beta, the AirPods Pro 1 suddenly get support for adaptive transparency. Hopefully it will actually happen, as the feature is a welcome addition to the first-generation AirPods Pro.

iOS 16.1 beta: AirPods Pro 1 get adaptive transparency
It’s remarkable to say the least what happens in iOS 16.1 beta, because the adaptive transparency is actually a special feature of the AirPods Pro 2. This allows you to hear all the sound around you when you have the earbuds in, but becomes too loud. suppressed.
So you are less bothered by, for example, a noisy concrete drill during road works or too noisy football supporters on the train. So a great function!
The fact that the AirPods Pro 1 will now also get this feature is a cool move from Apple. But we have to make a few caveats. According to the Apple website, the H2 chip is necessary for adaptive transparency to work. The AirPods Pro 1 still have the H1 chip. But maybe Apple has found a way to make the feature work on the previous generation of chips after all.

In addition, the adaptive transparency option for the AirPods Pro 1 is currently only in the beta of iOS 16.1. So there is a reasonable chance that this is a mistake by Apple and that the function will be gone with the final release of iOS 16.1. Still, we secretly hope that owners of the AirPods Pro 1 will also get this function.
