Activision Blizzard and Samsung shut down operations in Ukraine
Two giants from two tech sectors, video games and consumer electronics, have just added to the impressive list of companies that have decided to cut ties with the Russia following its attempted invasion of Ukraine . Activision Blizzard therefore ceases its activities in the country led by Vladimir Poutine (game sales, multiplayer gaming services), arguing that the safety of its employees on site is now its only priority: “We are doing everything we can to help the employees, and their families, who are directly affected by this tragedy” states in a press release Daniel Aleger, the CCO of Activision Blizzard. The publisher raised 300,000 dollars which will be sent to humanitarian organizations working in Ukraine.
Besides Activision, Samsung announced a few hours ago the suspension of its shipments to Russian territory: “Due to current geopolitical events, shipments to Russia have been suspended. » the group said in a statement. “We continue to closely monitor this complex situation to consider next steps”. It should be noted that Samsung was until now very largely at the head of the market of the smartphone in Russia. After Apple’s withdrawal, the Russian mobile market is now largely free for Chinese firms. Xiaomi and Oppo should be the big winners from the current sad situation.
