In Resident Evil 4 Remake, your achievements are traditionally rewarded with a rank. In order to achieve S rank or even S Plus rank, you have to meet certain requirements, but you will be rewarded accordingly. In our overview you can see all activation conditions for the ranks.

Achieve S rank and S+ (requirements)

Each of the four difficulty levels in Resident Evil 4 Remake has different completion rank criteria. Except for rank S+ in the highest level of difficulty “Pro”, only your achieved time is decisive.

The table below gives you one Overview of all requirements for the individual ranks:

rank assisted default veteran professional
S+ 4:00 (Only in a new game, no New Game Plus) 5:00 (Only in a new game, no New Game Plus) 5:30 (Only in a new game, no New Game Plus) 5:30 (Only in a new game, no New Game Plus and only save a maximum of 15 times)
S 4:00 5:00 a.m 5:30 5:30
A 15:00 12:00 p.m 10:00 a.m 7:00 a.m
B more than 15:00 more than 12:00 more than 10:00 more than 7:00

Rank S+ can only be achieved in a new game (playthrough 1), so you cannot use any advantages you have earned in a New Game Plus. For this reason, the use of the infinite rocket launcher is also not possible in S+, since it is only available in NG+. You can easily get the normal S rank in NG+.

Tips for rank S+

  • The time for a game run continues to run mercilessly from the start of the game. The timer only stops when you call up the pause menu. You will always see your current time at the bottom of the screen. Time does NOT stop when you are in the trader menu or when sorting items in the briefcase.
  • When you die, the game always gives you the option to press Next from the Game Over screen or load a save. However, if you want to rank high, you should definitely not do so, as the time for the failed attempt will be added to the timer. Instead, go back to the main menu and always load your last save from here, so you don’t get any extra time added.
  • You may use the eternal knife, Chicago Sweeper and Handcannon bonus weapons for S+. So it makes sense to unlock these weapons first before attempting S+. They are then filed in the warehouse with typewriters. The DLC weapons Sentinel Nine and Skull Shaker can also be found here and can be used. Note, however, that all of these weapons have to be improved again and again in a new game. Upgrades made on other savegames will not be carried over.
  • The use of unlocked outfits, costumes and accessories is also permitted to achieve S+.

Rewards for the ranks

In our article on the unlockable items in Resident Evil 4 Remake you will find an overview of all rewards. The most important include the following:

  • S+ on professional: Cat Ears (Infinite Ammo)
  • A on professional: Chicago Sweeper (Tommy Gun with special infinite ammo upgrade)
  • Complete a new game (Non NG+) on professional (rank unimportant) without using any bonus weapons: Handcannon (magnum revolver with special infinite ammo upgrade)
  • S on Veteran: Chicken Head (Reduces damage taken)
  • A on Veteran: Ashley’s Armor (Makes Ashley invulnerable)
