According to Apple, 90% of SNCF drivers are iPad fans
The SNCF (and more particularly the train drivers) had the right to its moment of glory during the phone call from Apple which followed the publication of the financial results for the last quarter. In particular, the iPad was discussed.
When Apple talks about the iPad and the SNCF
Luca Maestri, Apple’s CFO, noted that Macs and iPads were well established in the corporate world and cited the example of SNCF for France. Here is what he said:
Another example is that of the French National Railway Company, SNCF, which equips all train drivers with iPads to manage all of their daily work and train operations, which helps to reduce costs. energy and maintenance costs. In fact, iPads have been so well received that 90% of drivers choose to purchase them for personal use at the end of the company’s device renewal cycle.
SNCF train drivers have had an iPad for a while now. Distribution began in November 2013 and has continued over the years. The initial objective was to relieve the drivers by eliminating the heavy saddlebags with the sheets, safety regulations and other troubleshooting guides. Suffice to say that the Apple tablet is very light on the side and above all more transportable.
To date, there are 14,000 train drivers according to SNCF. 100% of them got a cellular iPad.
