ABN Amro stops supporting app for various customers

Several users may experience problems with the ABN Amro app. This becomes clear after reports of unstable apps and notifications. It’s raining complaints.

ABN Amro app stops working

It will soon be over with the ABN Amro app for various customers. ABN Amro has tightened up the security requirements, and as a result you may be left out with your tablet or smartphone from 1 May 2022. The Dutch bank will stop supporting Android versions of Android 7.1 Nougat and lower from that date. Android 8.0 Oreo or higher is required to use the application, the bank said in a response to one of the many complaints in the Google Play Store.

According to the bank, it is necessary to have Android 8.0 Oreo or higher, because security updates are still available for this. This is not the case for previous Android versions, so the security of the app cannot be guaranteed. An alternative for devices with a lower Android version is to log in via the website. A safer alternative is to look at a new tablet or smartphone. Other security updates no longer appear for devices with these Android versions.
