A lot of puffing: pregnant woman cycles to the hospital for childbirth with contractions

Remarkable: it was not the first time that she cycled to the hospital with contractions.

Cycling with contractions

The heavily pregnant Genter and her partner got on their bicycles to the hospital at two o’clock in the morning. ‘I really didn’t plan on cycling during my delivery, but it happened anyway. The contractions weren’t that strong when I left – although there were always two to three minutes in between and they got more and more intense when we arrived after ten minutes.’ She shares a photo on Instagram in which she smiles just after such a contraction. An hour later, Genter gives birth to a daughter. “So great, we now have a healthy, happy little one who sleeps just like her father,” said the politician.

Not the first time

Genter – who as a member of parliament represents the green party – regularly encourages people to cycle more often. And she follows that advice herself, even during her birth. It is not the first time she has used the two-wheeler to transport herself to the hospital heavily pregnant. In 2018, Genter also took the bicycle, because there was not enough space in the car for all the people who wanted to assist them.
