a fifth of readers already use Android 13

That many people would use Android 12 was to be expected (61 percent). However, it turns out that 19 percent of the readers are already on Android 13 with his or her phone. Not unexpectedly, Android 11 is in third position with 11 percent of the vote.

We ask you every year which Android version you run, because Google also publishes these figures and it is always nice to compare them. Not entirely unexpectedly, the distribution of those three first positions is slightly different. Google’s top 5 are:

  • Android 11 – 27 percent
  • Android 10 – 22.3 percent
  • Android 9 – 14.5 percent
  • Android 12 – 13.5 percent

With us it is (as our poll shows):

Android 11

Android 13 was not included by Google, so unfortunately we can’t make any statements about that, but it is clear that as an Android-oriented group of people, we prefer to use the latest of the latest. With us, Android 10 is slightly different with 5 percent. Android 9 is not even 1 percent. Also, there have been votes (but less than 1 percent) on almost all versions that fall under 9, up to 4.1. From then on, we actually no longer see phones with such an old Android variant, although there have been votes for Android 2.3 and Android 1.0. The latter is cool: the very first version of the beloved operating system.

It doesn’t have to be so modern for a warrior. “11. It will never get any higher.” Unfortunately, he doesn’t state why, so hopefully he can add that below this article. Boysmakenoize does say something about it (what’s in a name): “Oneplus Nord (1) here, deliberately still on Android 11, even though 12 is available. You just have to look at the community, not much positive…” Funny, because there are also people who are eagerly waiting for that version of Android. Karel-willem for example. “OnePlus 7 Pro: Android 11. Still waiting…”

AW Poll

In some cases it is therefore a conscious choice not to update, but there are also people who simply follow the updates that their telephone provider offers them. In any case, it turns out to be something in which people set each other free. Do you think Android 12 on a OnePlus is terrible? Then you just wait 13? No problem. So live and let live: in any case, Android as an operating system lives on well among the readers.

We’ll be back with you next week with another poll. Until then!
