A benchmark for the Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra chip
The new Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra chip being available since today, we have the right to a first benchmark on Geekbenchrevealing its power.
The benchmark shows that the Mac Pro’s M2 Ultra chip scores 2,794 with one processor core and 21,453 with all cores. In comparison, the older Mac Pro the mightiest, namely the model with the 28-core Intel W processor, scored 1,378 with one core and 10,390 with all cores. Performance therefore doubled with one core (+103%) and all cores (+106%).
Apple thus offers a new Mac Pro which is twice as powerful as the old one, while being almost half the price.
As a reminder, there had already been a benchmark for the M2 Ultra chip which concerned the Mac Studio. And unsurprisingly, the performance between the Mac Studio and the Mac Pro is almost identical.
For many people, the Mac Studio M2 Ultra will be much more interesting than the Mac Pro given the price (4,799€ vs 8,299€), to have the same power on arrival. The Mac Pro has a few differences, like the PCI Express slots. But it is true that for the rest, it can be difficult to justify a price almost doubled compared to the Mac Studio.
