AW Poll – 95 percent of readers have a Chromecast at home

With the announcement of the new Chromecast with Google TV in the Netherlands, we wondered how many readers already have such a box in their home. There are many: 95 percent have either a separate Chromecast or a Chromecast built into the television.

Chromecast is popular

The most popular dongle among our readers is the Chromecast with Google TV (27 percent), although many readers also use multiple Chromecast dongles (29 percent). 15 percent have Chromecast 3, 9 percent Chromecast 2, and 6 percent Chromecast Ultra. Then there are Chromecast 1 (5 percent) and Chromecast Audio (1 percent). 3 percent use the Chromecast built into the TV. adhd1977 thinks a Chromecast is a really good invention: “Above all, have a full HD but stupid TV.. it is now “smart” thanks to the Chromecast V3.. Nothing to complain about, works well enough.”

B@Zzz… is in the same boat, although he uses a television in the living room on which the apps still work fine: “My TV downstairs is still young, so I don’t need Chromecast there, all the apps run there themselves still perfectly on. My TV in the bedroom (fairly “dumb” TV) has been smart for two years now thanks to the Chromecast with google TV 👌. Michel.H16 also opted for a Chromecast with Google TV, but he does have a point for improvement for Google: “Also have a Chromecast with TV, great thing, only the remote control is bad!”

Sustainable gadget

1 percent don’t have Chromecast or another streaming device, while another 1 percent don’t have Chromecast but do have another streaming device. Nobody for example: “Nope, I have an Nvidia Shield that I’ve had since 2015.” 2 percent use apps on their smart TV and there are also some who have no idea. We have been using Chromecast for many years now and it is great to see that there are still people who make full use of a Chromecast that is almost 10 years old anyway. If only that was for more gadgets.
