Contrary to what was previously assumed, everything should remain the same with the AirPods Pro 2 – at least as far as the design is concerned. External differences to the current AirPods Pro are not to be expected. It should also take a while before a performance.

AirPods Pro 2: Hardly any change in design

Apple hasn’t officially announced the AirPods Pro 2 yet, even though the second generation of Pro Earbuds has been written about for ages. Now it turns out that in all probability it is no new design will give. Instead, the AirPods Pro 2 should hardly differ from its predecessor on the outside (source: MacRumors).

The only visible difference is supposed to be the downward-facing IR sensors affect. Just like the third generation of AirPods, this should be a skin detection. The sensors can detect more precisely whether the AirPods Pro 2 are in the ear or just lying on the table.

In the first generation AirPods Pro, Apple still relied on optical instead of IR sensors. The problem: You only recognize whether the AirPods Pro are covered or on a surface.
