Bethesda is currently giving away two cult classics from the popular series The Elder Scrolls. Currently, the games are still free, but after the move to Steam, that could potentially change.

With The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Bethesda has created a unique monument in the genre of fantasy RPGs. But even before the worldwide success of Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls was able to convince many fans with games like Oblivion and Morrowind. Currently you can Download two games in the series for free from the Bethesda website – and thus discover the beginnings of the time-honored fantasy saga.

The Elder Scrolls: Classic RPG available online for free

Bethesda is currently offering gamers the classics on their website The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall at. This means that you can relive the first two adventures of the franchise – completely free of charge. The games are showing their age now (they were released in 1994 and 1996), but for fans of the series they are indispensable classics that still know how to fascinate with exciting stories.

In TES: Arena you must face off against a battle mage who has kidnapped the Emperor and can only be stopped by the legendary Staff of Chaos. In TES 2: Daggerfall you must prevent dark forces from getting their hands on the brass golem Numidum.

Bethesda ahead of big Steam move

In February 2022, Bethesda announced that its in-house game launcher would be shut down in May of this year. The entire Bethesda library will now move to Steam because of this. While The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall will also migrate to the popular platform, it is not yet clear whether they are also offered there free of charge. For this reason it could be worthwhile for you if you download the games now before the move.
