Can you also use Apple’s Studio Display with Windows?
Interesting question. Is it possible to also connect Apple’s new Studio Display to a computer with Windows?
Apple is known for their software and hardware are often perfectly connected to each other. The downside is that as soon as you try to use something from a third party in that combination, it doesn’t always work well. This week Apple presented the new Studio Display, but can you also use this display in combination with Windows?
Apart from the question of why you would want to use such an expensive Apple product in combination with your Windows computer or laptop, of course. But yes, it is possible. Apple has confirmed this to The Verge. In principle, not only the screen, but also the other hardware of the display works with a Windows computer. Think of the built-in speakers and the webcam.
However, it is not the case that everything functions one hundred percent. The Center Stage feature is exclusive to the Mac. With Center Stage, the webcam can walk with you in the picture via software. The software can also smartly zoom out if others appear in the picture. It makes a video conversation a lot more dynamic. That is not in it for Windows and the Studio Display.
So if you are considering the Studio Display for your Mac and occasionally want to connect a Windows computer to it. No problem, you can.
