watchOS 8.5 beta 3
The third beta of watchOS 8.5 follows a week after beta 2. Unlike the new betas of iOS, iPadOS and macOS, there are hardly any new features in watchOS. Still, there is a news that makes us happy, because 8.5 includes support for 37 additional emojis.
In addition, however, it mainly remains with improvements for stability, fixed bugs and closed security holes. watchOS 8.5 is expected to be available in mid-March, right after the spring keynote and the release of the iPhone SE 2022.
Install the beta
In order to update to the new software version, the linked iPhone must first be upgraded to iOS 15.4 beta 3. If the Apple Watch has more than 50 percent battery, you can start the update via the Watch app on your iPhone. There, go to ‘General>Software Update’.
watchOS 8.5 compatibility
Could your Apple Watch already handle watchOS 8? Then it will of course also receive support for watchOS 8.5. That’s all Apple Watch models from the Series 3. However, the old Series 3 can only just handle this update, so it’s worth looking at a newer model. For example, the Apple Watch SE will be supported for much longer.
