‘Foldable Pixel Notepad will appear at the end of 2022, parts ordered’
Google will launch its first foldable phone, the Pixel Notepad, at the end of this year. A second source confirms that news and the production of screen panels will start this summer. Originally, the phone was supposed to hit the market in late 2021 or early 2022.

A second major source has confirmed that Google’s plans for a foldable phone have not yet been scrapped. The Pixel Notepad, as the phone will be called, will appear at the end of 2022, we already knew that from earlier information.
The second source to confirm this information is Ross Young, the CEO of DSCC or ‘Display Supply Chain Consultants’. Young is often aware of the contacts between phone brands and screen manufacturers and according to him, Google can produce screens for the foldable Pixel Notepad in the third quarter of 2022. The device would then appear in the fourth quarter, presumably in October, Young says on Twitter.

Back to the drawing board
Notably, Jon Prosser, another well-known rumor spreader, says plans for the foldable Pixel were never scrapped, as previously claimed. Young clarifies that Google has indeed canceled its component orders in the previous months. Google is expected to go to the drawing board again because the suggested retail price for its foldable Pixel had become too high. The device would cost more than the Galaxy Z Fold 3 from Samsung and that price is now limited to 1,400 euros, according to leaked information.
