Most Apple products get a refreshed version every year. However, there are a number of products that have to wait longer for an update. We list them for you.

Apple products that have been waiting for an update for a while
Several new iPhones are released every year, with hundreds of people queuing for them. The iPad also gets a number of new features every 12 months. However, not all Apple products have this luxury. These 5 devices have not received an update for the past 2 years.
1. iPod Touch
The iPod is a legendary device. Before smartphones dominated the market, almost everyone had an iPod. Apple sold a variety of models, including the iPod Classic, iPod Shuffle, and iPod Nano. The most popular iPod was arguably the iPod Touch. This is therefore the only iPod that Apple still sells in 2022.
However, the iPod Touch hasn’t had an update since May 2019. The media player is therefore almost 3 years old. The device runs on an A10 chip, which we know from the iPhone 7. In addition, there is a home button without Touch ID. That almost feels vintage, since the last iPhone without Touch ID came out in 2012.
The iPod Touch has another 3.5 millimeter jack. Again, this is rare in the current Apple landscape. Still, the presence of a headphone jack is quite logical for a device that is mainly intended for listening to music.
The iPod Touch is available in six colors. These colors are silver, black, pink, blue, gold and red. Apple removed the prominent iPod Touch page from its website last year, but you can always buy the media player. In today’s tech world, dominated by smartphones, the demand for the iPod Touch is minimal. We doubt whether Apple will ever update the device.
2. AirPods Pro
Apple’s Pro version of the AirPods have not had an update since October 2019. The current AirPods Pro earphones work great, but the battery life leaves something to be desired. Fortunately, there are a lot of rumors about a next generation of the AirPods Pro. Apple is expected to announce the updated earphones in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Well-known nice Ming Chi-Kuo states that the new AirPods Pro earphones will have support for lossless audio, making the sound quality better than ever. The earbuds are also expected to come with a charging case with built-in speakers. This way you will never lose the AirPods Pro again.

3. Apple Pencil 2
The Apple Pencil 2 came out in 2018. Apple announced the stylus at the same time as the iPad Pro 2018; the first iPad with flat sides. The Apple Pencil 2 will be compatible with the current iPad Pro, iPad Air and iPad mini in 2022. Users can snap the tool magnetically to the side of the iPad.
The question is, of course, to what extent the stylus needs an update. Most updates can be implemented through software. There are of course things that can still be changed through a hardware update. Apple can improve the battery and the pressure sensitivity of the brush. The design can also be modified. Finally, the Pencil 2 is only available in white – a number of different colors are more than welcome.
4. Magic Mouse 2
Do you have an iMac? Then there is a good chance that you are using a Magic Mouse 2. The wireless mouse dates from almost prehistoric 2015. So the device has not had an update for about six years. Is that bad? Not really. With the arrival of the iMac 2021, the mouse has received a number of fresh colors and a woven lightning cable. You can consider this as a minimal update.
If we had to think of a new feature for the Magic Mouse 2, it would be wireless charging. The device now charges via a lightning input on the bottom. That’s not exactly practical and just looks really weird. However, it does not keep us awake at night.
5. High-end Mac mini
Apple offers multiple versions of the Mac mini, including entry-level and high-end configurations. The cheaper Mac minis already have a powerful M1 chip, but the more expensive models still have outdated Intel processors. The high-end Mac mini has not been updated since October 2018.
The update break probably won’t last long. According to various rumors, the high-end Mac minis will get M1 Pro and M1 Max chips later this year. That means a huge boost in speed. Would you like a high-end Mac mini? Then have some patience.
