Elden Ring’s graphic designers are under pressure because of Demon’s Souls -apkrig
We already know a lot about Elden Ring from FromSoftware developers. Due to leaks from dataminers, actually more than we would probably like. Regardless, expectations are rising among fans of the soulslike genre, especially with less than two months to go and no one seems to doubt that the FromSoftware team is planning another big thing. Nevertheless, the experienced team was nervous, especially in terms of graphics, the main reason being the successful remake of Demon’s Souls, which was developed by developers from Bluepoint Games. Producer and designer Hidetaka Miyazaki spoke about both games in an interview with Edge magazine, in which he admitted that the graphics department feels quite a lot of pressure in this regard.
“Yes, I’m sure our graphic designers are under more pressure than anyone else,” Miyazaki said when asked how FromSoftware’s approach to the visual processing of Elden Ring. Although there is no need to explain extensively that the games from the mentioned studio adorn the gameplay and its specific features, the graphics of the remon of Demon’s Souls, at least from the videos and impressions from the recently available playable version, cannot match. However, everything largely replaces the overall style, thanks to which the visual experience is at a satisfactory level and the game with it overcomes some objective shortcomings. However, according to other statements, Miyazaki is not bothered too much and admits what is clear to FromSoftware fans. “It’s not just about the Elden Ring, it’s about all the games we’re working on. The richness of graphics is not our top priority. What we can afford in terms of graphics directly depends on the systems and other requirements of the game itself, “explained the designer.
I didn’t take part in it directly and I didn’t play the Demon’s Souls remake. But it’s because I just don’t like playing games I’ve created in the past.
In the end, Elden Ring takes a certain obsolescence of the visual processing. “I always apologize a little to our graphics department because I know it works extremely hard,” praises the studio staff remotely, saying that not only the graphic designers but also all the other team members worked hard to make Elden Ring the best looking game, which they ever put together. On behalf of Demon’s Souls and other direct comparisons, Miyazaki added that he did not actually play the remake at all, because he does not like to return to his own creations. “I was not directly involved and I did not play the Demon’s Souls remake. But it’s because I just don’t like playing games that I created in the past, “said the designer. He also added that, in addition, replaying his previous titles evokes a lot of old emotions and memories, which he just doesn’t like to be overwhelmed with. “But I’m very glad that the game got a fresh look, ie brand new graphics of the current generation,” added Miyazaki.
He also liked that the people at Bluepoint Games were able to come up with elements that people around Miyazaki hadn’t thought of more than a decade ago, but he wasn’t very specific about that. He only mentioned new game mechanisms, thought processes and techniques that were not taken into account years ago or that the developers did not want to include directly. It is therefore difficult to read whether or not he would be inspired by his own games, so we will not be able to examine this consideration in more detail until the end of February, when the Elden Ring arrives.
