Apple has app (but not for everyone)

Firmware Airpods App: For Apple Technicians Only
Apple recently released an app or tool to install or change the firmware of AirPods. Unfortunately, this app is not available to everyone. The tool can only be used by Apple technicians and employees of official Apple repair centers. With this tool, they can update or replace the firmware if someone has problems with their AirPods. This special tool is available for the AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max.
New AirPods firmware: regularly raises questions
The software updates of AirPods regularly cause questions, because there isn’t much you can do yourself to start the download. Sometimes you just have to be lucky that you get the update right away.
When an update for the AirPods is available, it is best to put the AirPods in the charging case. Then plug the charging cable into the case and plug it into the socket. It is important that your iPhone is connected to the internet and close to your AirPods.
Time for an official AirPods app (also for firmware updates)
An app would make it a lot easier to get to all the earbud settings. In addition, there should also be an option in the app to install an update (if it is available). With almost every new version of the AirPods, the earbuds get more functions or some settings are added. That’s why it’s high time for your own app! That’s how cool a dedicated AirPods app would be.
