Spotify is testing new video feed á la TikTok in Discover feed

Spotify is a very nice music service full of possibilities. The music service is now experimenting with a feature that may soon be rolled out to users. It’s the Discover feature, which seems to be inspired by TikTok.

Spotify does a TikTok

TikTok is world famous; you can share your videos and add music to them. It is an empire full of vertically filmed videos. Spotify is clearly inspired by the video platform and is now experimenting with a new Discover feature. Here you will find a feed of vertical videos, of course based on the music.

The feature has now surfaced in a test version for iOS. It is part of a new option in the navigation bar which is thus called Discover. The feature is similar to Canvas, where artists can replace their static album covers with short videos. The videos in Discover are similar, only cropped to vertical size. By swiping vertically you navigate through the different clips.

According to TechCrunch, which has made inquiries with Spotify, it has not yet been decided whether the function will be definitively rolled out. For now, it is only being tested to see if the concept has any value. If it is a success, it can be rolled out to everyone in due course.
