Like all market players, Apple is affected by the shortage of components for its iPhone 13. The manufacturer is digging into its iPad production to manufacture enough smartphones.
For Apple, the shortage strikes at the worst of times. As the end of year celebrations approach, the firm wishes to respond to this moment of tension. Among the manufacturer’s flagship products, the iPhone 13 is one of the most popular products at the moment. According to information from the Japanese media Nikkei, Apple’s reaction is to reduce the production of the iPad by 50% in order to favor its offer of smartphones for end-of-year demand.
Apple iPhone 13 takes priority over iPad
As for last year, the iPhone are the main suppliers of sales for the manufacturer. It is therefore logical that the Cupertino company gives priority to the brand’s smartphones. In order to juggle between products, Apple had the good idea to pool some of its components. Here, it is not the A15 Bionic processor that is the problem, but above all a few menu items available on both the iPhone 13 and the iPad. This is not the first time that the manufacturer has used this solution for its stock.
Last year already, Apple had already opted for this solution for the iPhone 12. However this year, the patch would only be provisional. Indeed, the market share in the tablet sector continues to grow at the Cupertino company. Currently, an ordered iPad is scheduled to arrive between December 1 and 8. A situation that should not get better over the months. If the iPhone 13 remains popular, the company will also be forced to reduce its inventory. However, given last quarter results of $ 83.4 billion, the company is doing well.
