Apple no longer signs iOS 15.0.2: restore and update blocked

Apple has stopped signing iOS 15.0.2 on its servers, meaning that it is no longer possible to install this particular version. This is valid both as an update and as a restoration.

It is no longer possible to install iOS 15.0.2

iOS 15.0.2 was released on October 11. This was a corrective update, here are the bugs fixed according to Apple:

  • Photos saved to your photo library from the Messages app could be deleted after deleting the thread or associated message.
  • Leather Card Holder with MagSafe for iPhone might not connect to Find My.
  • The AirTag might not appear in the Objects tab of the Find My app.
  • CarPlay might fail to open audio apps or become disconnected during playback.
  • Device restore or update could fail when using Finder or iTunes for iPhone 13 models.

It also plugged a security hole already exploited by hackers. In fact, Apple closed the flaw without crediting the security researcher who discovered it.

As of this writing, Apple only signs iOS 15.1, which has been available since October 25. This update was an opportunity to have some new features, including SharePlay. Then there will be iOS 15.2 which happens to be in beta with developers and public testers.
