Deutsche Bank has bad news for all customers
Postbank customers have to be prepared for tough times. The actual plans that Deutsche Bank has with the brand taken over from Deutsche Post are being accelerated and are to be pushed further in the future. It’s about the closure of branches.
Deutsche Bank wants to close Postbank branches faster
Actually, Deutsche Bank only wanted to close 50 Postbank branches per year. This was contractually agreed after the takeover by Deutsche Post. Now the plan looks according to that Handelsblatt suggest that the closure of the Postbank branches should be completed much faster. Currently there are 750 Postbank branches left in Germany, which customers can visit and bank transactions there. That number is said to be falling quickly.
The Deutsche Bank closes 200 Postbank branches and so shrink to 550 branches. To this end, a new agreement was signed with Deutsche Post that allows this. So far, Deutsche Post has refused to accelerate the branch closings. This time it worked, so that Deutsche Bank can now get started.
For customers who are dependent on a branch, this is of course bad news. Deutsche Bank justifies the closure of the Postbank branches with fewer and fewer visitorsso that the locations are not worthwhile at all. There is increasing emphasis on online banking, where basically anything is possible. Older people often have no online banking and so now have a problem. If you have difficulties, you will probably have to pick up the phone more and more frequently in the future and no longer have a contact person on site.
in the Video let’s tell you how you can really save money:
Postbank introduced negative interest rates
If you have too much money in your Postbank account, you have to pay negative interest. While many banks have set a limit of 100,000 euros, the Postbank only has 50,000 euros. Every year, new customers who have opened an account since June 21, 2021 have to pay 0.5 percent negative interest.
