Chrome 95 with Material You and useful new features; both Android and desktop

Google has released a new version of the Chrome browser. In Chrome 95 we see a lot of new features, including the Material You design.

The Android browser Chrome gets the new Material You design, which we see in Chrome 95. The pill-shaped search bar is the biggest change. Of course, the colors of the wallpaper in Android 12 are also taken over thanks to Material Theme. Previously you could already activate Material Theme, that had to be done through the well-known ‘flags’.

Another new feature is that you can scroll through screenshots. We already know this function from various brands, and it is also part of Android 12. The function is therefore also present in Chrome 95. When a screenshot is taken, you can tap ‘Record more’. That way you can adjust the frame yourself to capture the image. You have to activate the function yourself. To do this, go to chrome://flags and search for scroll capture.

For desktop

In Chrome 95 for the desktop, you can now choose to add tabs to a new group. In this case, you can save an entire group of tabs and quickly access them later.

A new eye-dropper tool can provide information about colors used in a web page. Until now this was only possible by downloading an optional extension. You can also set certain files/links to be opened with a set app. Think of a PDF or text document that can be opened automatically with your own chosen app. Finally, online stores can add support for a particular payment authentication method. This can be done, for example, by means of your fingerprint.

Chrome 95 is slowly being rolled out. It may take a while until everyone is offered the new version.
