Tim Cook not happy with many Apple leaks: “It really has to stop”
Tim Cook has warned Apple employees to stop leaking confidential information. This is evident – ironically – from a recently leaked memo.

Tim Cook angry over Apple leaks
Apple CEO Tim Cook has sent a stern email to his employees, stating that he is not happy with the leaking of confidential information. While the email should encourage no more leaks, the content itself has now been leaked. Yes, that’s painful.
Cook talks candidly about his disappointment about the many leaks in recent times. “I heard that many employees are frustrated with the leakage of information from our last employee meeting,” he writes. “This came after a series of product announcements, many of which had also been leaked in advance.”
Cook goes on about his shared frustration. “Connecting only works if the information we share with each other stays within Apple. We are currently doing everything we can to find out who released the information. The small group of responsible people should not work for us.”
Product details are increasingly leaking early
Apple product announcements are no longer the big surprises we remember from the old days. Renders, specifications, prices and names of unannounced products are increasingly leaked in advance – sometimes months in advance.
As a result, the ‘wow factor’ of a new product is not forthcoming. After all, we already know exactly what’s coming. That has to stop, says Tim Cook. He happily ends the email on a positive note: “We will continue to focus on the lives we change, the connections we make and the work we do to make the world a better place.”
