5 expectations for the September Apple event
The iPhone 13 series is on tuesday 14 september to 7 p.m. Dutch time finally revealed. But there’s probably a lot more to come out of Apple’s top hat. We outline our expectations for the September 2021 Apple event. Are you reading along?
1. iPhone 13 Pro (Max)
The star of the evening is, of course, the iPhone 13 series. Especially the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The new top models probably contain quite a few improvements. They run on a faster A15 chip and the phones have a 120Hz display. This makes everything you do look a lot smoother. Also, the notch will probably be slightly smaller. In addition, Apple is working on the cameras. In particular, the ultra-wide-angle lens will probably improve considerably on the iPhone 13 Pro (Max), so that you can take better photos (in the dark).
With 6.1 and 6.7 inches, the phones will probably remain the same size as their predecessors, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. There may be a model with no less than 1 terabyte of storage space. Currently, 512GB is the maximum.
Probably the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are just as expensive as last year. That means that you pay respectively 1159 or 1259 euros for the entry-level model with 128GB storage.

2. iPhone 13 (mini)
Do you think that is too expensive? Then you can always opt for the regular iPhone 13. It is just as fast and just as large as the iPhone 13 Pro. It has a nice OLED screen, but it is not as smooth as on its more expensive brother. You also hand in a camera, because the ‘normal’ iPhone still lacks the telephoto lens of the Pro models. This allows you to zoom in without losing quality. The cheaper iPhone 13 may also not have the improved ultra-wide-angle lens.
If you want a small smartphone, you can go to the iPhone 13 mini with its 5.4 inch screen. You probably pay 809 euros for that. The 6.1-inch variant will cost you at least 909 euros. The entry-level model probably has 64GB of storage space. In addition, it may be the last mini iPhone, because Apple would no longer want to release a successor to the iPhone 13 mini.

3. Apple Watch Series 7
We also expect to see the Apple Watch Series 7 during the Apple event in September. According to most rumors, the watch will receive a major upgrade. This makes the screen edges smaller, so that the display itself can probably grow. According to rumors, there will be models of 41 and 45 millimeters. Apple also seems to be doing a little extra in terms of battery life.
Major health functions are (unfortunately) likely to fail. The Series 7 focuses on a new design, reminiscent of that of the iPhone 12, with upright edges. The smart watch will probably also get a faster processor. There does not seem to be a glucose meter with which you can check your blood sugar. Some analysts don’t expect this sensor until the Series 8.

4. AirPods 3
The AirPods 2 are already 2.5 years old and were a modest upgrade compared to the first generation. High time for the AirPods 3. We have been saying that for a while, because there have been rumors about the new earplugs for a long time. Still, it looks like we’re really going to see them in September.
Among other things, we expect that the design of the AirPods 3 will resemble that of the AirPods Pro. That means a shorter stem and a different fit. In addition, they may be more resistant to water. Handy if you use the AirPods during exercise. Furthermore, the sound quality may be improved, although little is known about this.

5. iOS 15, iPadOS 15, watchOS 8 release date
Traditionally, Apple also announces when the new version of iOS will be released during the iPhone event. That will be no different with iOS 15. Although we do not expect any new iPads during the Apple event in September, the same applies to iPadOS 15. watchOS 8 will also receive a release date.
The updates introduce numerous improvements. For example, the notifications on your iPhone become more compact and you can get started with flexible widgets on the iPad. The Apple Watch is getting a new mindfulness app, among other things.
