Will we be newly envious of Germans with mobile phone updates?
Salaries, trains, highways, pensions, cars – maybe even some beers? On the list of things that not only Czechs envy the Germans, there are very few things. In the field of mobile phones in particular, there has not been a large one so far, but this may also change soon. The local government is working on a regulation that manufacturers should guarantee seven-year security updates for mobile phones. Such a border would still go far beyond the value that the European Union intends to demand from 2023. Namely, five years.
Hand in hand with software security patches, according to the proposal, spare parts should be provided for each mobile phone for seven years. At a reasonable and for several years unchanged price. And also fast. The European Union wants to enforce maximum delivery time of five days, Germany maybe even less. Make customers a phone they would rather have it repaired than buy a new one right away. The aim of such proposals is, of course, to put pressure on ecology and sustainability. At the same time, however, it is necessary to mention that elections to the Federal Assembly are being held in Germany on September 26. So the mentioned extended updates of mobile phones can easily be just a pre-election promise.
How long does the support apply to your mobile phone?
