How to take a picture of the Oppo Reno 5 5G smartphone?
Welcome to our old well-known series, in which we introduce individual smartphones and talk about the quality of their cameras. We are more satisfied with some of them, a little less with others. The recently tested new Oppo Reno 5 5G is a mid-range mobile phone. However, it will also please some more demanding users. It also has a surprisingly high quality camera kit.
As already mentioned, the cameras of this model are quite good and also outperform some competition. You can read more details about the set of cameras in the review of this smartphone itself, or in the continuation of the article. So let’s describe the sensors of this tested device.
Oppo Reno 5 5G smartphones do not disappoint
I rate the photo application positively. It is well tuned and fast enough. Even switching between the main and ultra-wide sensors is not slow. The application offers all the features you would expect. Of course, there is also a professional mode, there is also a portrait mode with background blur.
You can shoot in 4: 3 (default), 1: 1, 16: 9 or screen aspect ratio. The main sensor with a resolution of 64 MP takes pictures by default in 16 MP resolution, it combines 4 pixels into one. However, there is also the possibility of taking photos in maximum resolution.
The two-megapixel macro sensor is more for decoration. You can get macro photos from it, but they have a low resolution and the sensor cannot focus automatically. Any-so-good photos can be taken during the day with plenty of light.
The telephoto lens is completely missing, I would not recommend zooming in more than twice. The main sensor lacks optical image stabilization. The photos during the day are nice and they have nothing to be ashamed of about their price category. The dynamic range is sufficient and it is pleasant to look at daily photos.
Ultra-widescreen photos seem relatively faded, have a weaker dynamic range compared to the main sensor, and I find that they lack life. Be prepared for the fact that the resolution of 8 MP does not offer an extra lot of detail, but you can look at the photos.
The video can be recorded in a maximum of 4K resolution at 30 fps. 60 fps is also available, but only for FHD resolution and only the main sensor. Once you switch to ultra-wide, shooting will be set to 30 fps. I miss some shortcut that would allow me to quickly get to the resolution and frame rate settings, I always have to go through the settings.
Optical stabilization is lacking here, but it is trying to replace it with digital. And it works quite reliably. The videos are not excellent, but they are perfectly fine for the given price category and will definitely not offend.
