Streaming platform Twitch ‘just’ bans you

The streaming platform Twitch is extremely popular among gamers. But you can have a ban hanging on your pants. Twitch is now going to provide more clarity about this.

Streaming platform Twitch is really just a video site that focuses on broadcasting personal channels. Especially when computer games are played. Everyone can make broadcasts through their own channel. This can be about different topics and gather an audience. But the service can throw you off without a hitch. Many gamers don’t know why. That is now changing.

Twitch gives more clarity about ban

Being kicked off your popular own channel can be quite painful. Lost all your followers, but you can no longer publish your content either. If this happened to you, you’ll soon get more details about what you did wrong. You will then be notified with the date and title of your stream that violated Twitch’s rules.

This is new, because previously streamers only received a notification about which rule(s) you had broken. You received no further explanation and it was therefore completely unclear with which material you had broken the rules. So it’s going to get a little clearer from now on, but it’s not all-encompassing. There will not be a personal message with the exact reason why someone is banned. It can be material of hours, in which you can get a ban with one short action of a few seconds.

Off duty

More notably, users can also be banned for their behavior outside the service. Yes, seriously this is possible. Since April, Twitch has introduced a new rule that allows users to be banned if the person misbehaves outside the platform. The company calls “clearly hateful and harmful acts, including threats of mass violence, and leadership or membership in a hate group.” How they find out is unclear.
