‘There will be no OnePlus 9T this year and this is the cause’
This year we should not expect a OnePlus 9T, says a well-known rumor. The cause lies in the worldwide shortage of chips that causes many difficulties for telephone manufacturers. Although there is still hope for a solution.
No OnePlus 9T
Since the OnePlus 3T from 2016, we have been used to OnePlus every year that it launches top devices in both the spring and autumn. All beautiful fairy tales come to an end, because this year we should no longer expect premium phones from the brand, at least that’s what the well-known rumor spreader Max Jambor says. on Twitter.
It was previously whispered that, just like last year, there will be no Pro version with the OnePlus 8T again, but that the 9T will also be deleted is new information. There are two possible explanations for this move by OnePlus.
Two possible causes
The most likely is the global chip shortage. As a result of the global pandemic, chip manufacturers have had to shut down production for months, causing a shortage of semiconductors everywhere. As soon as the machines stop, it also takes time to restart production, and due to the impending shortage, several companies have ordered extra chips for a while to escape a shortage.
A less likely cause is that OnePlus wants to give itself extra time to come up with more innovations with the OnePlus 10 next year. OnePlus gave last year as the reason for the absent OnePlus 8T Pro that there would otherwise be too few differences between the various top models that the brand releases. Still, it seems unlikely that the brand would also delete the 9T for that reason, especially because the brand has never released so many smartphones before.
ray of hope
Fortunately, there is still a little bit of hope for the 9T. Jambor may have a good reputation for its leaked information, but we are still far enough away for the launch of a possible OnePlus 9T. There is a chance that OnePlus will still find a solution for its chip problem in time, because according to rumors, Samsung would use Exynos processors especially to get the Galaxy S21 FE in stores. OnePlus could opt for a different chipset or it could launch the phone in select markets.
Another question is which phone will we see OxygenOS 12 first if there is no 9T? Possibly with the OnePlus 9 series, or will the software appear earlier with another model? What do you think of this rumor? Are you going to miss the 9T and do you think the brand might find a solution after all? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
