Range of 528 kilometers higher than announced

The Hyundai subsidiary had obviously stacked too deep in the announcement. At the same time, she published further information about the electric car.

When presenting the first Kia model, which is designed as a purely electric model, the manufacturer apparently exercised modesty. He stated “over 510 kilometers” for the Kia EV6 with a 77.4 kilowatt-hour battery and rear-wheel drive. Of course, the small print said that the so-called ECE homologation had to be awaited for definitive values. This is what the official approval process is called, in which a certified test laboratory, among other things, officially determines consumption. The result had the French Kia boss already revealed to an auto journal, Now it is official.

EV6 with all-wheel drive covers 506 kilometers

This process has now been completed and has resulted in a range according to WLTP of 528 kilometers. That corresponds to 16.5 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers. The all-wheel drive version also made it to the 500-kilometer limit. Their combined range is 506 kilometers and consumption is 17.2 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers.

According to the numbers, the EV6 ranks between the ID 4 Pro Performance (522 kilometers) and the Skoda Enyaq VI 80 (test) (536 kilometers). The A4-E-Tron series and the vehicles from parent company Hyundai, Ioniq 5 and Kona Elektro as well as the VW ID 4 GTX and Tesla’s Model Y are lower in performance. but Tests of the ADAC showthat the table can look different. As a consumption miracle, the Hyundai Ioniq Electro with 16.3 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers is on top of the podium. The Model 3 in the Range Plus variant ranks second, followed by the VW E-Up (Seat Mii) and the Hyundai Kona Elektro.

Fast charging thanks to 800 volt technology

The EV6 battery can be charged with either 400 or 800 volts. In 800 volt mode, all models accept up to 239 kilowatts of power and can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes. This technology is only known from higher-priced electric cars such as the Porsche Taycan. In addition, the on-board network has a charging unit with which the driver can charge other devices or vehicles with a maximum of 3.6 kilowatts. This bi-directional charging is also a rarity in the marketplace and is one of the features of Hyundai’s E-GMP platform.

Kia names even more properties of the EV6, such as the lush space, recycled materials and high-quality workmanship. You want to get out of the cheap supplier image – and rightly so – and that is also evident in the Pricing on the homepage.
